It’s been a whirlwind few weeks since THAT Saturday. It’s lovely to share news that people are SO delighted by! Asides from adjusting to engaged life I’ve also been doing a bit of jet setting I thought I’d share with you.
There are many perks to life as a buyer at Boden but my last trip might have been one of the best to date. I travelled to San Francisco to meet and chat with customers, and go shopping.
What a dream.
San Francisco is an interesting place of extremes. Extreme hills. Extreme weather (it has a micro climate of being in almost constant fog, if you head over the Golden Gate bridge you are suddenly in dazzling sunshine). Extreme poverty- the homeless problem is staggering. Also extremely cool.
As great as this trip sounds, I was actually working so my top tips for the city are limited mostly to the hotel conference room where we held our focus groups. But we did have some great dinners out I would recommend.
Night one: fresh from the plane we went to a seafood diner called Aliotos in Fisherman’s Wharf, home of Madam Tussauds and Ripleys-Believe It Or Not! I ate hake with truffle mashed potatoes and settled into a sleepy food coma before stumbling off to bed. In the taxi back to the hotel our driver stopped off for photos at the Bay Bridge because you’ve got to squeeze in these experiences when you can!
Night two: we explored Mission Street- which is full of street art, laundrettes, chicken shops and amazing restaurants. We went to Foreign Cinema and ate oysters and the best steak I think I’ve ever eaten, under the orange glow of festoon lights and a huge screening of Alice and Wonderland.
Day three: after several hours post customer visits at Target (think Primark, Ikea and Tesco rolled into one mega store), we walked from the hotel for dinner at The Social 25 Lusk where I ate gazpacho followed by lobster mac and cheese.
Day four: we hit the shops before our evening flight home. We explored a mixture of malls and boutiques and it was the best day for getting a sense of the city. Plus the sun came out.
Then I flew home, did a quick turn around and headed back out for sunny Bath in Somerset to spend the weekend celebrating my lovely friend Emma’s hen do. Emma and I have been friends since we were at ballet class age 4. Our mums are besties and now we get to be one family as she marries my gorgeous step brother Toby. Hen do planners extraordinares Charlotte and Georgie putting on an amazing weekend. Yoga, afternoon tea, willies and dancing. Perfection.
