An Unexpected Saturday

Yesterday I thought the most exciting thing that would happen is that the car might scrape through its MOT (happy days, it did!). I’d been told I wasn’t needed for an extra Saturday working at Jam and Tea and thought all I had to do was some household bits and pieces before heading off to meet our pals Pete and Amanda for a casual dinner in Forest Hill.

For some reason they wanted to meet at 4pm in the Horniman Museum on a fairly grey afternoon, but I went with it, they really like hanging out in those gardens.

We arrived and Pete and Amanda weren’t in sight. Mr H and I wandered up past the picturesque bandstand with views overlooking London when LO AND BEHOLD HE PLUCKED OUT A RING AND WENT DOWN ON ONE KNEE.

I was VERY SURPRISED.

And DELIGHTED.

And SHRIEKY- saying “NO” a lot as in “NO WAYS ARE YOU DOING THIS ACTUALLY REALLY FOR REALS??” (Not no I won’t marry you- Mr H wanted clarification quickly as you can imagine).

“Rosie make sure you can see the ring”

Round the corner rolled Pete, Amanda and surprise guests Rosie and Henry with champagne and picnic baskets!

I’d had my nails done the day before. I NEVER get my nail done. So very weird.

We drank our way through a couple of bottles in the gardens before wandering up to our favourite sour dough pizza restaurant. Understated and perfect.
